Itinerary

Day 01 Hotel Pickup – Chinchero – Moray – Maras – Urubamba – Ollantaytambo – Pisac – Cusco

Sacred Valley, Moray and Maras: Inca engineering, living tradition, and landscapes that connect with the essence of the Andes.

Our Sacred Valley Cusco - Maras and Moray Tour begins with hotel pickup in the historic center of Cusco. Between 06:00 and 06:30 AM, a bilingual guide and private transport will collect you. If you stay in a remote area or Airbnb, we will agree on a meeting point to depart at 07:00 AM.

The first stop is Chinchero, an ancient Inca town. We will explore Inca walls discovered in the 1960s, once covered by Spanish constructions. The textile center and South American camelids exhibition will show traditional weaving techniques and local culture. You may photograph stunning Andean landscapes and learn about Ayni, Minka, and Yanantin, principles of communal life.

Next, we will drive to Moray, a mysterious circular terrace complex. These terraces served as an agricultural laboratory for the Incas, demonstrating advanced crop experimentation. We will walk among the concentric terraces while the guide explains soil variation and microclimates used for diverse crops.

We will continue to Maras, home to more than 5,000 ancient salt pools still in operation. Here, we will observe the salt extraction process that dates back to the Inca period. The sparkling pools create a unique visual spectacle, perfect for photography and cultural appreciation.

After Maras, we will head to Urubamba for a buffet lunch at a local restaurant. We will enjoy traditional Andean dishes and take in the serene valley views. This break provides time to rest and prepare for the afternoon tour.

The tour continues to Ollantaytambo, a town continuously inhabited since Inca times. We will explore the impressive fortress built against the mountainside and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valley. The site’s terraces and stonework demonstrate remarkable Inca engineering.

Finally, we will visit Pisac, where we can explore the vibrant artisan market and the archaeological complex. The terraces showcase the Inca mastery of agriculture, and the hilltop ruins provide sweeping valley views. This concludes our guided tour before returning to Cusco, arriving at Plaza San Francisco around 07:00 PM.

Optional: Guests with train tickets from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu can end the tour near the train station. In this case, the Pisac visit will not be included. Private or personalized tour options are available via our travel advisors on WhatsApp.
