Your adventure begins early in the morning with a hotel pickup in central Cusco between 04:00 – 04:30 a.m. As we depart the city, you will enjoy a scenic drive through the Andean countryside. Along the way, rolling valleys and small villages will give you a glimpse of rural life in the Cusco region. The two-hour drive leads us to the town of Cusipata, where a traditional Andean breakfast awaits. This is an ideal moment to adjust to the altitude and energize with local delicacies while enjoying the peaceful mountain atmosphere.
After breakfast, we continue for about one hour to the trailhead at Chillihuani, the starting point of our hike. Here, our guide will give a brief introduction to the route, highlighting cultural insights and safety instructions. The hike begins gradually, winding along paths surrounded by sparkling streams, grazing llamas, and alpacas. The landscape slowly transforms from lush green valleys to the multicolored slopes of Vinicunca. If needed, local horses are available for rent to support those who prefer assistance during the climb.
The ascent to Rainbow Mountain takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to stop, rest, and take photos of the breathtaking scenery. The guide will explain the geological formation of the mountain, the meaning of its colors, and its cultural significance to local communities. As you approach the summit, the views expand to reveal snow-capped peaks, glacial streams, and the striking hues of the Red Valley nearby.
At the top, standing at 5,200 meters, you will experience the full spectacle of Rainbow Mountain. Take time to explore, capture photos, and absorb the extraordinary landscape. The panoramic views of multicolored ridges and the surrounding Andes create a truly unforgettable experience. After enjoying the summit, we begin the descent back to Chillihuani, retracing our steps through the stunning Andean terrain.
Upon returning to Chillihuani, we board our vehicle for a short ride to Cusipata, where a hearty Andean lunch with hot beverages awaits. This is the perfect opportunity to relax, share stories of your adventure, and enjoy traditional local flavors. After lunch, we drive approximately two hours back to Cusco, arriving around 17:00. The tour concludes with a drop-off at Plaza Regocijo or Plaza San Francisco, ending a full day of exploration, culture, and natural beauty.

Muy linda experiencia! El traslado y el guía estuvieron muy bien. Es una caminata exigente pero muy bonita. Estaría bueno tener una media hora más para recuperarse y subir hasta la cima donde salen mejores fotos. Al menos con mi estado físico no me dio el aire para hacer todo tan rápido!

El guía fue excelente. Tenía muchos conocimientos y fue considerado con nuestras limitaciones. Viajábamos con nuestra madre, que tiene más de 75 años, y él fue muy amable. Le recomendaría, el guía turístico fue el mejor elemento de la experiencia.
