Day 01 LLama Picnic en Chinchero
We begin the day with hotel pickup from Cusco’s historic center. The drive to Chinchero covers 30 km and takes about 45 minutes, offering stunning views of mountains, terraces, and vibrant Andean villages. From the very start, you’ll feel the energy of nature.
Upon arrival in Chinchero, you’ll meet our llamas and alpacas. We’ll walk with these noble animals along peaceful rural trails surrounded by beautiful landscapes. You’ll have time to take photos and interact with them. Our bilingual guide (English/Spanish) will explain the vital role of llamas and alpacas in Andean culture.
After the walk, you’ll enjoy a private picnic in the heart of nature. A gourmet platter with cheeses, dried fruits, and artisanal sourdough bread awaits you. Seasonal fruits and juice will complement the table, along with hot beverages, water, coffee, and wine. This unique setting offers direct views of the majestic Apu Verónica mountain.
During the picnic, you’ll hear stories about local traditions, Andean farming, and spiritual practices. Our guide will share insights about the apus (sacred mountains), agricultural cycles, and ancestral weaving. It will be the perfect moment to relax, disconnect, and embrace the peaceful Andean atmosphere.
Later, we’ll continue the journey to Maras and Moray. In Moray, you’ll explore the fascinating circular terraces used by the Incas for agricultural experiments. At Maras, you’ll witness the famous salt mines, active since pre-Inca times. These sites highlight the wisdom and deep connection between land and culture.
By the afternoon, we’ll return to Cusco in private transport. The tour will end in the historic center, leaving you with lasting memories of breathtaking landscapes, llamas, and authentic flavors. Truly one of the most unique cultural experiences in the Sacred Valley of Peru.

The tour starts very early type 3-4 am, how good you can sleep on the way, we breakfast in a very good buffet and then depart for the mountain. Here the height is the problem, you can walk up but it requires a lot of condition, the good thing is that there are horses that you can pay and for 90 suns they leave you 15-20 minutes from the top. Wear layered clothes as you can warm up when climbing. We already walk down and the road is much easier. On horseback you go up in 40 minutes, you are on the mountain an hour to take pictures and the return is about 1 hour or so. In the end we still had lunch in the same very rich buffet!

What a beautiful place!!! Most of us went up there on mules. Important to clarify if the person weighs more than 110 kg he will not be able to carry it and will have to walk up . . . It is still very expensive, to have proper footwear
