The Machu Picchu Tours 4D/3N – Journey to Machu Picchu tour will reveal the living history of the Inca Empire. Over four days, we will explore the grandeur of Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and the world wonder of Machu Picchu. Each day will combine culture, natural landscapes, and spiritual connection.

We will start with the Cusco City Tour, visiting temples, Inca palaces, and colonial streets full of history. We will walk through the legendary Qoricancha, admiring its perfectly fitted stone walls. We will explore Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, and Puka Pukara, surrounded by views at 3,400 meters above sea level.

Next, we will continue to the Sacred Valley, a place of ancient energy and unique landscapes. We will see the circular terraces of Moray and the shining salt pans of Maras. In Ollantaytambo, we will visit an Inca fortress that dominates the valley, feeling the strength of its millennial past.

The third day will be the most anticipated: we will visit Machu Picchu, the jewel of the Andes. We will walk through its temples, terraces, and viewpoints, surrounded by towering mountains. We will capture unforgettable views and uncover the mysteries of this lost city.

We will conclude our adventure with a cultural day in Taucca, an Andean community dedicated to llama and alpaca herding. We will participate in traditional textile workshops and share an authentic experience with local residents of the Andes.

Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival in Cusco – City Tour

Qorikancha, Catedral del Cusco, Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Pukapukara, Tambomachay.

  • Start: 1:00 PM (Approx. 5 hours of service)
    Maximum altitude: 3,850 meters above sea level

    At 1:00 PM, we will be picked up from the hotel in Cusco to start the cultural tour. Our guide will accompany us on this first contact with historic Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire.

    At 1:30 PM, we will visit Qorikancha, the Temple of the Sun, one of the most important Inca temples, famous for its mix of Inca and colonial architecture. Next, we will continue to the Cusco Cathedral (optional entry), a monument housing valuable Baroque art and colonial relics.

    At 2:30 PM, we will transfer to the impressive archaeological complex of Sacsayhuamán. Here, we will admire its massive stone walls and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Cusco.

    At 3:30 PM, we will continue to Qenqo, an Inca ceremonial center carved into rock, considered a place of worship for Mother Earth.

    At 4:00 PM, we will visit Pukapukara, an ancient military fortress used as a control and defense point for valley access.

    At 4:30 PM, we will tour Tambomachay, a ceremonial site dedicated to the water cult, where Inca channels and springs still flow.

    At 6:00 PM, we will return to central Cusco and transfer to the hotel to rest and acclimate to the altitude.

Day 02 Sacred Valley of the Incas – Maras and Moray

Chinchero, Moray, Maras (Salineras), Urubamba, Ollantaytambo.

    At 7:30 AM, we will be picked up from the hotel to start the Sacred Valley tour, a journey combining Andean landscapes, history, and living culture.

    At 8:30 AM, we will arrive in Chinchero, known as the “cradle of the rainbow.” We will visit its artisan market, colonial church, and the impressive Inca terraces still preserved today.

    At 10:30 AM, we will continue to the circular terraces of Moray, an ancient agricultural laboratory where the Incas experimented with different microclimates for cultivation.

    At 12:00 PM, we will tour the famous Maras Salt Mines, a set of over 3,000 pre-Inca salt pools forming one of the most striking landscapes in the Sacred Valley.

    At 1:30 PM, we will enjoy a buffet lunch in Urubamba, surrounded by a privileged natural environment.

    At 3:00 PM, we will visit the majestic fortress of Ollantaytambo, an archaeological site of great strategic and religious importance for the Incas. This town is also one of the few living towns that preserves its original urban layout.

     

    At 7:00 PM, we will take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, at the foot of Machu Picchu, where we will spend the night.

Day 03 Cusco – Hydroelectric Station – Hike to Aguas Calientes

Santa Teresa – Hidroeléctrica – Caminata selva andina – Aguas Calientes – Baños termales.

    After breakfast, we will take the bus to the Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary. During two hours, we will explore its temples, terraces, and viewpoints with an expert guide.

    We will observe the precision of Inca architecture and enjoy impressive views over the Urubamba River valley. Then, we will descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch and may relax in its thermal baths.

     

    In the afternoon, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then the bus to Cusco, arriving around 10:00 PM.

Day 04 Andean Experience – Alpaca & Llama Vibes – Cusco

Comunidad Taucca – Alpacas y llamas – Hilado y tejido – Picnic andino – Paisajes rurales.

    We will start at 8:00 AM and head to the Taucca community in the heart of the Sacred Valley. We will be welcomed with traditional music and surrounded by alpacas and llamas, symbols of Andean life.

    We will participate in cultural activities such as spinning, weaving, and preparing local foods. We will share an Andean picnic with potatoes, cheese, fresh fruits, and traditional beverages.

     

    In the afternoon, we will return to Cusco, enjoying the rural landscapes of the highlands along the way.
