Itinerary

Day 01 Cusco – Chillca – Llaqtapata – Wayllabamba

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 6:00 AM and drive to Km 82 in Piscacucho, the official starting point of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 5D/4N. The adventure begins with scenic views of the Urubamba River and sacred mountains.

We’ll visit the archaeological site of Patallacta, known for its agricultural terraces and ancient Inca settlements. Enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by nature before continuing toward Wayllabamba, where we’ll set up our first campsite. Dinner will be served under the starry Andean sky.

After a nutritious breakfast, we’ll begin our ascent through Andean forests rich in flora and fauna. We’ll reach Llulluchapampa for lunch while enjoying breathtaking mountain views.

Then, we’ll face the challenge of Warmiwañusca Pass (Dead Woman’s Pass) at 4,215 meters, the highest point of the trail. From the summit, you’ll feel the spiritual energy of the Andes. We’ll then descend to Pacaymayo, where we’ll camp and enjoy dinner together after this rewarding day.

After breakfast, we’ll hike toward Runkurakay, a circular archaeological site that once served as a resting post for travelers. Continue to Sayacmarca, an impressive Inca city built on a steep cliff, where we’ll explore its temples and narrow streets.

We’ll have lunch at Phuyupatamarca (“the town above the clouds”) while admiring panoramic views of the mountains. Then we’ll descend through stone paths surrounded by tropical vegetation until reaching Wiñayhuayna, one of the most magical sites on the trail. Dinner and overnight at our final campsite.

After breakfast, we’ll say goodbye to our porters and continue to Inti Punku (Sun Gate), where you’ll enjoy your first awe-inspiring view of Machu Picchu at sunrise.

We’ll descend to the citadel and pass through the control gate for a 2-hour guided tour of temples, plazas, and agricultural areas. Learn about Inca history, religion, and architecture before taking the bus to Aguas Calientes, where we’ll have dinner and rest at a comfortable hotel.

After breakfast, we’ll take the bus back up to Machu Picchu Sanctuary for free time to explore at your own pace. You can visit additional temples, terraces, and viewpoints to capture stunning photos and feel the sacred energy of this wonder.

In the afternoon, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included), then board the Expedition Train to Ollantaytambo, and continue by bus back to Cusco.
