Itinerary

Day 01 Cusco – Challacancha – Sky Camp – Humantay Lake – Sky Camp

Your adventure begins early, with a 05:00 hrs pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We drive for about 3 hours across the Sacred Valley, passing through picturesque Andean villages and rolling farmland until reaching Mollepata (2,803 meters). Here, we enjoy a hearty Andean breakfast to fuel the day.

Afterwards, we continue by transport to Challacancha (3,600 meters), the starting point of our trek. From here, we begin hiking along ancient Inca water channels and narrow mountain trails, surrounded by small streams, lush valleys, and breathtaking snowcapped peaks.

By midday, we reach Soraypampa (3,900 meters), where our Sky Camp domes await. These unique accommodations offer a mix of adventure and comfort, perfectly located at the foot of the mountains. After lunch and a short rest, we prepare for the highlight of the day: Humantay Lake.

The afternoon hike takes about 1.5 hours uphill, reaching Humantay Lake (4,200 meters). Its turquoise waters reflect the surrounding glaciers, creating one of the most iconic views in Peru. We’ll take time to enjoy the scenery, meditate, and capture photos of this natural wonder.

As the sun sets, we descend back to camp. Dinner will be served under a blanket of stars, and you’ll spend the night in your Sky Camp dome, with panoramic views of the Salkantay and Humantay mountains.

Day 02 Sky Camp – Salkantaypampa – Salkantay Pass – Soyrococha – Soraypampa – Cusco

Wake up to unforgettable sunrise views of the mountains. After enjoying a warm breakfast, we begin today’s challenging but rewarding trek. Our trail ascends steadily towards Salkantaypampa, a wide valley offering spectacular panoramas of glaciated peaks.

We then follow a winding path known as “The 7 Serpents” because of its zigzagging shape, which takes us to the highest point of the trek: Salkantay Pass (4,650 meters). Standing here, surrounded by snowcapped mountains, you’ll feel the powerful energy of the Andes. This is the perfect spot for reflection and appreciation of nature’s majesty.

After celebrating our accomplishment, we descend towards Soyrococha and then continue back to Soraypampa. At the Sky Camp, a well-deserved lunch will be waiting. We then gather our belongings, rest briefly, and begin a 30-minute walk to the transport point.
