Embark on one of the most impressive hikes in Peru with the Ausangate Trek and Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) 3 days / 2 nights. This tour combines the very best of the Andes: glacial landscapes, turquoise lagoons, high-Andean communities, and the famous Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca).

Ideal for trekking and nature lovers, this experience will take you to elevations of over 5,000 meters above sea level, where the purity of the air and the majesty of the Apus will make you feel as if you are in another world.

Get ready to explore the heart of Ausangate, one of the most sacred mountains in Cusco, as you hike among alpacas, multicolored lagoons, and unique geological formations. This adventure is designed for those seeking an authentic, natural, and challenging trek, surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of the Vilcanota mountain range.

Itinerary

Day 01 Cusco – Tinki – Upis (Thermal Baths)

You will depart early from Cusco toward the picturesque village of Tinki (3,800 m above sea level), the starting point of your journey. Along the way, you will enjoy spectacular views of the Andean valleys and rural villages where local families still preserve their ancestral traditions.

After a delicious breakfast, you will begin the hike toward Upis, accompanied by panoramas dominated by the impressive Ausangate Glacier (6,384 m). During the trek, you may observe llamas and alpacas grazing freely, as well as small lagoons reflecting the snow-capped peaks.

In the afternoon, you will arrive at the Upis campsite (4,300 m), a place surrounded by mountains. Weather permitting, you can relax in the natural hot springs that offer incredible views of Ausangate. Dinner will be served under a star-filled sky—an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Andes mountain range.

Day 02 Upis – Arapa Pass – Pucacocha Lagoons – Ananta

After breakfast, you will continue your hike toward Arapa Pass (4,850 m), the first of the high-mountain passes on the route. From here, you will enjoy spectacular views of the Ausangate glaciers and the multicolored lagoons that decorate the landscape.

During the descent, the trail will lead you alongside the Pucacocha, Jatun Pucacocha, and Qomercocha lagoons, each displaying turquoise and emerald hues that reflect the pure beauty of the Peruvian Andes.

You will then continue on to the Ananta campsite (4,700 m), where you will be welcomed with a hot drink and a traditional dinner prepared by your mountain chef. This second day offers a unique connection with nature, the silence of the Andes, and the sacred spirit of Apu Ausangate.

Day 03 Ananta – Rainbow Mountain – Cusco

Today will be the most anticipated day of the journey. Very early, after breakfast, you will begin the ascent toward Warmisaya Pass (5,000 m), from where you will enjoy panoramic views of Ausangate and the famous Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca).

After a short rest, you will descend toward Vinicunca to admire this impressive natural phenomenon, known for its shades of red, yellow, green, and violet. Here you will have time to take unique photographs and feel the energy of the place before starting the descent to Cusipata, where transportation back to Cusco will be waiting for you.

You will end this unforgettable adventure with a heart full of gratitude and a mind renewed by the grandeur of the Andes. The Ausangate Trek and Rainbow Mountain is an experience that combines nature, spirituality, and living culture in a sacred setting.
